Replacing the coolant pump

Preparation





Install lock grip pliers on the upper radiator hose.
Raise the car.
Remove the lower engine splash guard.
Install lock grip pliers on the lower radiator hose.
Open the engine nipple. Drain coolant into a container. Close the nipple.
Remove timing belt according to Replacing the timing belt Removal and Replacement.

Replacing the coolant pump





Remove screws holding pump at cylinder block.
Tap the pump wheel with the shaft of a hammer and remove pump.
Carefully clean gasket face.
Install a new gasket and the coolant pump. Tighten crosswise to 17 Nm (12 lb.ft).

Finishing





Install timing belt according to Replacing the timing belt Removal and Replacement.
Remove the lock grip pliers from the lower coolant hose.
Install the lower engine splash guard.
Remove the lock grip pliers from the upper coolant hose.
Fill coolant and check level.
Check servo fluid level.
Test drive the engine.
