Selector Shaft Seal
Preparatory work
Removing left engine pad
Remove the left engine pad. See: Engine support insulator left Engine Support Insulator Left.
Removal
Removing the bracket
Remove:
- the 3 screws
- the bracket.
Removing the gear shift lever
Detach the shift cable from the arm using 999 7077 Jimmy bar 999 7077 Jimmy Bar.
Press out the spring pin with 999 7221 Press tool 999 7221 Press Tool. Use the long pressure pin.
Remove the lever.
Removing the seal
Remove the plate from 999 2709 SLEDGE 999 2709 Sledge.
Fit 999 7219 Extractor 999 7219 Extractor on the sledge hammer.
Carefully tap down the puller in the bottom of the shift rail.
Screw in the puller screw.
Remove the seal.
Caution! If the shaft is rusty, first clean away any rust. Clean around the flange, not up and down.Use sand paper 951 1024 or a very fine emery cloth to clean the shaft.
Clean around the shaft with isopropyl alcohol and blow it clean with compressed air.
Installation

Installing the seal
Install a new seal using 999 7220 Drift 999 7220 Drift.
Installing the gear lever
Install lever.
Press in the spring pin with 999 7221 Press tool 999 7221 Press Tool. Use the short pressure pin.
Install the shift cable.
Installing the bracket
Install:
- the bracket
- 3 M12 bolts.

Installing the engine pad
Install the left engine pad. See: Engine support insulator left Engine Support Insulator Left.
