Preparations
Open the hood.
Remove:
- the cowl according to Plenum chamber Service and Repair
- the rear view mirror according to The inner rear view mirror Rear View Mirror
- the roof trim according to Roof trim .
Note! Ensure that the molding is correctly removed. It is important that this is done in order to eliminate any problems when installing.
Remove:
- the sun visor and brackets
- interior lighting
- the mounting for the headlining at the A-post.
Note! Do not damage any components when removing the headlining mounting with the extra clamp.
Note! Do not damage the paintwork. Protect the A-posts using masking tape.
Removing the windshield
Insert wire 115 9785 PIANO WIRE 0.5 MM 115 9785 Piano Wire 0.5 mm through the PUR adhesive from the inside outwards.
Use round-nosed pliers to pull the wire through from the outside.
Secure the wire in the handle 115 9784 PULLER HANDLE 115 9784 Puller Handle on the outside and in counterhold 115 9783 COUNTERHOLD CHISEL 115 9783 Counterhold Chisel on the inside of the car.
Note! Install masking tape in the corners on the dashboard to prevent damage. Work with care.
Two-man operation:
Press the counterhold hard against the inside, as far away as possible. Pull the handle on the outside with a smooth, even movement.
Stop and move the counterhold forward by hand. Keep the wire under tension the whole time.
"Saw" around the corners. Extra care is needed at the weatherstrip at the roof edge.
Do not damage the interior trim or the paintwork.
Apply suction pads 998 6030 998 6030 to the windshield. Lift the windshield out.
