Rear Door Window Glass: Service and Repair

Glass for the rear side door

Removing the glass from the rear side door




Remove the door panel according to The panel for the rear side door Removal and Replacement.
Remove the tie strap from the upper section of the panel.
Carefully turn the run-off profile inwards.

Removing the guide rail




Slide the glass upwards.

Remove:
- the screw from the panel (B)
- the panel
- the foam beading.
Pull the weatherstrip from the guide rail. Slide the weatherstrip upwards.
Remove the guide rail by sliding it straight downwards.

Removing the glass




Remove the panel lining to access the bolts.
Position the glass so that the bolts can be removed (A).
Remove the bolts.
Pull the glass upwards.

Positioning the glass




Slide the glass downwards until the lugs run over the guide rail.
Install the bolts (A). Finger tighten.
Install the panel lining.

Installing the guide rail





Lubricate the molding and guide rail.
Insert the guide rail from underneath.

Install:
- the guide rail over the holes. Tighten the screws (A). Tighten to 10 Nm
- the molding inside the guide rail
- the outer cover
- the screw
- the foam rubber section on the guide rail.

Installing the glass and panel




Wind the glass up and down a few times.
Wind the glass down so that the bolts can be tightened.
Tighten to 4 Nm.
Wind the glass up and down a few times to check the function.
Install the run-off profile according to Run-off profile Side Door With Controls.
Install the tie strap for the upper section of the panel.
Install the door panel according to The panel for the rear side door Removal and Replacement.
Clean the glass.
