Replacing the speed sensor

Preparations

Note! When removing the battery lead, see Note when disconnecting and connecting the battery lead Battery Disconnecting.

Removing the air cleaner (ACL) housing, the intake manifold and the battery
See Replacing the air cleaner (ACL) Service and Repair.





Remove:
- the battery shelf.

Removing the vehicle speed sensor (VSS)




- Unhook the (two-pin white) connector for the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) from the bracket
- Separate the connector
- Clean thoroughly around vehicle speed sensor (VSS). Remove the sensor
- Note the routing of the cable.

Installing the vehicle speed sensor (VSS)





Install:
- the sensor. Tighten to 5.5 Nm
- the connector on the bracket.
- Assemble the connector.

Install:
- the battery shelf. See Replacing the air cleaner (ACL) Service and Repair.

Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
Check and erase any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
