Passenger Airbag Module
NOTE: The dashboard must be removed completely in order to remove the passenger air bag module. If the passenger air bag module has been deployed the whole dashboard must be replaced.
Removing The Dashboard
Remove the dashboard.
Removing The Passenger Airbag Module
NOTE: If replacing the dashboard, transfer components.
Place the dashboard with the front side upwards on a blanket or piece of cloth.
Remove:
- the four screws for the ventilation pipe
- the ventilation pipe
- the green connector for the passenger air bag module
- the screws on the right and left sides. Lift out the passenger air bag module using a twisting action
- the SRS connector from the passenger air bag module (press in the catches on the sides).
Installing The Passenger Airbag Module
WARNING: The passenger air bag module must be handled.
Carefully position the passenger air bag module in the dashboard.
Install:
- the two screws. Tighten to 9 Nm
- the ventilation pipe with four screws
- the green connector for the passenger air bag module.
WARNING: Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed passenger air bag module. The passenger air bag module may be deployed.
Installing The Dashboard
Install the dashboard.
Finishing Work
Prepare the car.
Check that the SRS indicator lamp goes out after approximately 10 seconds.
Installing SRS Airbag Date Decal
Do not forget to replace the air bag date decal on the driver's side C-post with the new label supplied with the passenger air bag module.
