Removing The Dashboard






Removing the dashboard

Special tools:
981 4071 STRAIGHTENING TOOL 981 4071 Straightening Tool

Preparations




- Make a note of radio code
- Switch off the ignition
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.

Note! Wait at least five minutes before carrying out work on the car.

Removing the panels for the dashboard





Remove:
- the rear center console according to Rear center console Rear Center Console
- the front center console according to Front center console Front Center Console
- the side panels on the center console according to Center console panels Center Console Panels
- the soundproofing panel on the driver's side according to Driver's side soundproofing Driver's Side Soundproofing
- the soundproofing panel on the passenger side according to Passenger side soundproofing Passenger Side Soundproofing
- the combined instrument panel according to Driver information module (DIM), installation/removal, component replacement Removal and Replacement
- the radio panel according to The radio panel The Radio Panel
- the dashboard environment panel according to Dashboard environment panel Dashboard Environment Panel
- the A-post panel according to Upper A-post panel Upper A-Post Panel.




Open the glove compartment.

Remove:
- the two screws
- the storage compartment using a twisting movement.

Removing the loudspeaker from the dashboard




- Remove the loudspeaker grille
- Lift the loudspeaker out of the dashboard. Disconnect the connector.

Disconnecting the wiring and the hood latch





Remove:
- the central electronic module (CEM) according to Replacing central electronic module (CEM) Service and Repair
- the cable. First unhook the cable from the hood catch
- the screw (A) at the front of the dashboard
- the screw from the top of the bracket
- the bracket
- brown and blue connectors by the side of the fusebox from the cable harness
- the connectors from the cable harness.




Press the gray marked 24-pin connector out through the opening on the reverse of the dashboard.
Remove the blue connector for VGLA.
Remove the clips from the cable harness.

Disconnecting airbags




Disconnect the orange 4-pin connector for the passenger side airbag at the right-hand side of the center console.

Removing the dashboard





Note! Two people are required for this operation.

- Remove the screws as illustrated
- Cars equipped with airbags on the passenger side have two screws in the glove compartment which must be removed
- Cover the upper steering shaft cover with a cloth. This is to prevent damage
- Disconnect the dashboard. Remove the dashboard.
