The rheostat signal to the audio unit comes from the central electronic module (CEM). The signal is used to set the luminance of the front panel on the audio unit to match the other instrument lighting in the car.

Substitute value
- None.

Possible source
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open-circuit, short-circuit to ground or short-circuit to voltage in the signal cable between the audio unit and the central electronic module
- Faulty signal from the central electronic module (CEM).

- The rheostat function on the audio unit is not working.
