Ignition key/remote control, replacing

Removing keys from the remote control




Fold out the key so that the lock pin is accessible and lock the key in this position.




Secure the key part in a vice or similar. Tap out the lock pin with a drift. Diameter approx. 1.5 mm.




Pull out the key from the mounting.

Note! Avoid damaging the key or remote control during the work.

Installing keys in the remote control




Place the key in the remote control (as shown).
Align the holes with each other.
Install a new lock pin in the hole.
Carefully tap in the lock pin without damaging the key or the remote control, so that it passes through on both sides.
Check that it's possible to fold in the key and that it remains in the folded out position.

Note! If the remote control needs to be replaced, then the battery shall be transferred to the new remote control.

Programming general

Note! When only replacing the key blank, there is no need for programming.

The remote control contains functions for both immobilizer and remote key. This means that after replacing the remote control, it must be programmed with both function for immobilizer and remote control.

Final check
Check that the immobilizer function is okay by trying to start the car. The car should start.
Check that the remote control function is okay by testing all buttons and their functions.
Check in VIDA that no diagnostic trouble codes have been stored during the work.
