Removing fixed side windows
Preparations
Remove:
- the side panels in the cargo compartment according to Replacing side panels in the cargo compartment V40
- the C-post panel according to C-post panel C-Post Panel
- the D-post panel according to D-post panel D-Post Panel
- the seat belt according to The rear seat belt The Rear Seat Belt.
Removing fixed side windows
Step 1
Cut along the marked edge and the PUR bead (2). Use tool (3) 951 2786 Handle 951 2786 Handle.
Use short knife blade 951 2787 Knife blade 26 951 2787 Knife Blade 26. Do not damage the paintwork!
Note! Use soap solution. This will facilitate cutting. Ensure that the headlining is kept clean and is not damaged.
Step 2
Cut along the marked edge and the PUR bead (2). Use tool (3) 951 2786 Handle 951 2786 Handle. The guide pins (4) must NOT be cut off.
Use long knife blade 951 2788 Knife blade 38 mm 951 2788 Knife Blade 38 mm. Do not damage the paintwork!
Hold the rear edge of the window away from the bodywork so that the remaining section of the marked PUR bead (2) can be reached with a thin bladed knife.
Note! Use soap solution. This will facilitate cutting.
Installing fixed side windows
Apply PUR adhesive. See Installing windshields Service and Repair.
Position the windshield.
Press the window into place by hand.
Secure strips of tape to the window.
Leak test!
Note! Allow the adhesive to cure so that the window does not change position before installing the components.
Install:
- the seat belt according to The rear seat belt The Rear Seat Belt
- the D-post panel according to D-post panel D-Post Panel
- the C-post panel according to C-post panel C-Post Panel
- the side panels in the cargo compartment according to Replacing side panels in the cargo compartment V40 .
