Checking and replacing the component

- Expose the gear selector assembly according to Rear center console Rear Center Console
- Ignition on
- Brake pedal depressed.
Check that the lever in the gear selector assembly tensions the keylock cable when the button on the gear selector is pressed in. The lever must keep the cable tensioned when the gear shift selector is moved to positions other than P and the button is released.
Move the gear selector to position P. Release the button. Check that the tension in the cable is released. Remove the end of the cable from the lever. Pull the cable between the limit positions to check that the cable is not sticking or has come off.
Remedy as necessary.
