Checking the parking brake (warning lamp does not come on)

Checking the input
- Handbrake on.
Read status of lamp.
When handbrake is on status should be "ON", and when handbrake is released status should be "OFF".

Yes - Verification

No - Checking the wire and handbrake contact

Check function of handbrake switch. Measure the voltage between 1 and ground.

Hint: When handbrake is on, pin 1 should be grounded.

Check and measure the wire between combined instrument 6 and handbrake contact 1 for an open circuit as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , and for a short circuit to voltage supply as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
