Checking the relevant switch
- Ignition on
- Wait at least 10 seconds for the control module to carry out its diagnostics
- Read off the button.
Check that the status changes when the switch is activated. The fault is no longer present if the status changes.
Does the status change with the position of the switch?
Yes - Intermittent fault
No - Checking the relevant switch
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the relevant switch
- Check that the switch has not jammed in the pressed in position and that it does not stick
- Remedy as necessary
- If there is no fault in the switch, the climate control module is defective
- Read off and note the programmed values before replacing the climate control module.
Other information:
- To access or remove the climate control module, see Comfort module Removal and Replacement.
Does the climate control module need to be replaced?

Programming the seat heater in the left seat
Note! This function is used to program the heater for the left seat. In addition to activating the seat heater, the heat level must adapted for the type of upholstery. The maximum temperature for seat heaters with standard upholstery is 40 °C (104°F). The maximum temperature for seat heaters with leather upholstery is 43°C (109°F).
- Ignition on
- Read off and program the climate control module. Select the temperature level!
Caution! Programming must be carried out so that the high temperature setting is higher than the low temperature setting. The recommended difference between high and low levels is at least two degrees.Do not exceed the maximum level for the type of upholstery.
Read off the seat heater. Make a note of the value. If the programming is not correct, program in the correct version.

Caution! After programming a new climate control module, damper motor self-adjustment must be carried out. See the options below.
Select one of the following options:
1. Return to the start of programming or read off the programmed values
2. Exit programming and carry out damper motor self-adjustment (new climate control module)
3. Exit the programming.

Self-adjustment of damper motor end positions
Self-adjustment of damper motor end positions. Electronic climate control (ECC), Manual climate control (MCC), Standard (STD)
Note! Self-adjustment must be carried out if the control module or damper motor is replaced or the damper motor or its linkage has been removed. The indication LED on the climate control module panel will flash during adjustment.
Hint: During self-adjustment the control module runs the damper motors to their limit positions. The control module then stores the value returned from the position sensor for the damper motor. The control module is then able to operate the motor betweenthe limit positions during normal operation.
- Start the engine (the generator charges)
- Activate self-adjustment. The self-adjustment takes thirty seconds.
Note! Self-adjustment can only be carried out once in the same ignition cycle. To run the self-adjustment again, switch off the ignition, wait 10 seconds and start the engine again.
The indication LED stops flashing when the self-adjustment is complete.

Intermittent fault
The fault-tracing indicates that the climate control module has previously registered a fault in the switch. This may be the result of a stuck switch or because the switch has been pressed in for more than three minutes.
Remedy as necessary.
