Signal too high. Permanent fault

Checking connectors








- Ignition off
- Check the outside temperature sensor connector and the climate control module connector B (16-pin) Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Remedy if necessary.
Check for damage carefully
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on
- Read off the outside temperature.
Check that the outside temperature reading is correct. Compare with the actual air temperature.
The fault was caused by poor contact in the connectors if the temperature is now OK.

Is the temperature reading OK?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring
Check the resistance of the outside temperature sensor. Take the readings between the outside temperature sensor terminal #1 and #2.
Check the cable between climate control module terminal #B1 and outside temperature sensor terminal #2. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the cable between control module terminal #B2 and outside temperature sensor terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.

Hint: A short-circuit on the ground lead may have been caused by a short-circuit to supply voltage. Always check the signal cable for this fault cause as well.

Remedy as necessary.
