Signal too high. Permanent fault

Checking connectors








- Ignition off
- Check the evaporator temperature sensor and the climate control module connector B (16-pin) Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Remedy if necessary.
Check for damage carefully
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on
- Read off the evaporator temperature.
Check that the evaporator temperature is correct. Compare with the actual air temperature.
The fault was loose connections in the connectors if the evaporator temperature sensor is OK.

Is the temperature reading OK?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Checking components and wiring

Checking components and wiring
Check the resistance of the evaporator temperature sensor. Take the readings between evaporator temperature sensor terminals #3 and #4.
Check the signal cable between climate control module terminal #B3 and evaporator temperature sensor terminal #4. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Check the ground lead between control module terminal #B4 and evaporator temperature sensor terminal #3. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.

Hint: A short-circuit on the ground lead may have been caused by a short-circuit to supply voltage. Always check the signal cable for this fault cause as well.

Remedy as necessary.
