Replacing the inner and outer antenna module

Warning! On S80 and V70 (2000-) cars with inflatable curtains, the wiring must not be routed above the side windows. This could jeopardize the function of the inflatable curtain in the event of a collision.

Note! When replacing or repositioning the antenna, see: Installation Instructions 3-394-49.





Remove:
- the side cushion according to Side cushion
- the rear seat seat cushion according to Cushion
- the C and D post panels according to Panel, C-post, replacing Panel, C-Post, Replacing.
Separate the connector on the floor.
Detach the cable at the C and D-posts.
Detach a corner of the inner module from the glass. Use weatherstrip tool 981 4071 STRAIGHTENING TOOL 981 4071 Straightening Tool. Pull off the module.

Installing the inner module




Clean the glass using a razor blade or similar.
Clean the glass using the cleaning cloth supplied with the inner module.
Cut out a template corner to corner with the outer module.
Position the template edge to edge with the outer module. Tape the template into place.

Note! The outer and inner modules must be positioned opposite each other.

To ensure optimal adhesion, carefully heat the glass. Use a hot-air gun or similar.
Remove the backing from the inner module.
Position the module in the correct place on the glass. Press the module into place. Press the module against the glass for 3-4 seconds.

Note! Ensure that the tape adheres correctly all the way around the mounting for the inner module.

Remove the template.
Reinstall other components in reverse order.





Replacing the outer module

Removing the outer module




Lift one corner of the outer module using a weatherstrip tool.
Pull off the module.

Installing the outer module




Clean the glass using a razor blade or similar.
Clean the glass using the cleaning cloth supplied with the outer module.
Cut out a template corner to corner with the inner module.
Position the template edge to edge with the inner module. Tape the template into place.
