Checking the Passenger Compartment Temperature Sensor (Electronic Climate Control)
Checking the passenger compartment temperature sensor (Electronic climate control)
Checking the passenger compartment temperature sensor signal
- Ignition on.
Read of the passenger compartment temperature (climate control module) and vary the temperature at the passenger compartment temperature sensor to check that the value changes. Also check that the value is within its permitted range by comparing the values from the outside temperature sensor and the passenger compartment temperature sensor (upper electronic module) or thermometer.
Is the temperature reading OK?
Yes - No Fault Found
No - Checking component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking component
Check that neither the grille nor the pipe for the passenger compartment temperature sensor are blocked.
Other information:
- To access / replace the climate control module, see Dashboard environment panel (including climate control module (CCM)), replacing Dashboard Environment Panel (including Climate Control Module (CCM)), Replacing.
Was a fault detected?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking component
The fault has probably occurred as a result of a defective power circuit in the climate control system. This type of fault means that the climate control system unit must be replaced. The passenger compartment temperature sensor cannot be replaced independently.
Other information:
- To access / replace the climate control module, see Dashboard environment panel (including climate control module (CCM)), replacing Dashboard Environment Panel (including Climate Control Module (CCM)), Replacing.
-------------------------------------------------
Self-adjustment
Hint: After replacing the control module or damper motor, and when a damper motor or link has been removed, carry out self adjustment to define the damper motor limit positions.
- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Activate self adjustment.
Continue - Verification
-------------------------------------------------
Verification
Hint: After the repair it is necessary to check that the fault has been rectified.
- Ignition off.
- Connect the connectors, install the components, etc.
- Ignition on.
Read the interior temperature and vary the temperature with the interior temperature sensor to see if the value changes. Check that the value is normal using a thermometer.
Is the value OK?
Yes - Troubleshooting procedure complete
No - Exit fault-tracing for this test
