Gear selector lever assembly, reconditioning

Removing the center console

Remove the gear selector assembly and mechanical cables

Remove gear selector assembly components





Remove:
- the catch for the bevel arm
- bevel arm with bushing and spring
- the cover for the gear selector lever ball joint. Pull up the ball joint, gear selector lever and rubber sleeve from the gear selector assembly.

Remove the old link caps from the gear selector lever. Install new




Lubricate the new link caps with grease, P/N 1161241-3.
Tap the lower cap onto the gear selector using a rubber mallet.

Lubricate and install components on gear selector assembly




Lubricate the gear selector lever ball joints and bevel arm bushings with grease, P/N 1161241-3.

Install:
- the rubber sleeve
- the gear selector lever with ball joints and cover
- the bevel arm with bushings, spring and retaining clip.

Install the mechanical cables and the gear selector assembly

Install the center console
