Condition




Line pressure solenoid SLS regulates the line pressure in the transmission. The solenoid is controlled by a power stage in the transmission control module (TCM) output. The transmission control module (TCM) uses the power stage to control the current to the solenoid. A low amperage results in a high line pressure. A high amperage (approximately 1 A) results in a low line pressure. The amperage is primarily affected by the throttle position. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0112 is stored if the control module (TCM) registers a short-circuit to supply voltage in the circuit for solenoid SLS resulting in excessive amperage in the circuit. Solenoid SLS cannot then control the line pressure.

Substitute value
- The transmission control module (TCM) Emergency mode III program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the control signal cable or signal cable
- Short-circuit between the control signal cable and the signal cable
- Defective solenoid.

Fault symptom[s]
- The warning lamp for the automatic transmission flashes
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
- No shifting
- No lock-up function.

Hint: No shifting because the control module prevents activation of the solenoids.

Caution! There is a danger that this fault will cause line pressure in the transmission to be too low. This will result in a high level of wear.
