Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition




The transmission control module (TCM) and engine control module (ECM) communicate via a standardized serial interface. Both the control modules transmit and receive data. The engine control module (ECM) transmits "identification" data to the transmission control module (TCM). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0048 is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) registers that the engine control module (ECM) "identity" does not correspond to the programmed "identity".

Incorrect engine control module (ECM) or transmission control module (TCM) version.

Fault symptom[s]
- Warning lamp for the automatic transmission flashes
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
- No lock-up function
- Harsh gear shifting.
