Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The oil temperature sensor transmits a signal to the control module. This signal is used for functions such as temperature controlled lock-up and the engagement of high-temperature programs. The sensor has an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) resistor. The signal (voltage) decreases with increasing oil temperature. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0046 is stored if the control module receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor corresponding to a temperature above approximately +160°C for approximately 2 minutes

Substitute value
- None.

Possible source
- Poor oil cooling
- Mechanical fault in the transmission
- The transmission has been exposed to extreme load and high ambient temperature.

Fault symptom[s]
- Warning lamp for the automatic transmission flashes
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
