Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The oil temperature sensor transmits a signal to the control module. This signal is used for functions such as temperature controlled lock-up and the engagement of high-temperature programs. The sensor has an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) resistor. The signal (voltage) decreases with increasing oil temperature. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0045 is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor which has not changed after the engine has run for 10 minutes.

Substitute value
- No substitute values.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Open-circuit in the signal cable or in the ground lead
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
- Defective oil temperature sensor.

Fault symptom[s]
- Warning lamp for the automatic transmission flashes
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
