Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may have been stored during transportation between the factory and dealership. Check that the transit safety catch in the integrated relay/fusebox in the engine compartment is correctly connected.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Does the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status change?
Yes - FAULT FOUND
No - Checking the cable

- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Disconnect the SRS and VGLA control modules.
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.
Note! Do not touch the terminal pins in the SRS control module. There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the control module.
Check the connector for the SRS module and the connector for the lock and alarm (VGLA) control module. Check for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the connector for the SRS module #55 (#30) and the connector for the lock and alarm (VGLA) control module #A10. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has changed to intermittent.
Does the status change?
