Faulty Signal
Faulty signal
Checking the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status
- Activate the diagnostic menu. See Diagnostic functions Audio HU1205 (audio module) Diagnostic Functions Audio HU1205 (Audio Module)
- Check whether the fault is permanent or intermittent by reading and erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) according to " 3 RTI Diag". See Diagnostic functions Audio HU1205 (audio module) Diagnostic Functions Audio HU1205 (Audio Module).
Note! Make a note of all stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) before erasing.
- Ignition off.
- Activate the diagnostic menu. See Diagnostic functions Audio HU1205 (audio module) Diagnostic Functions Audio HU1205 (Audio Module)
- Activate the self-diagnostic according to " 2.1 circuit check". See Diagnostic functions Audio HU1205 (audio module) Diagnostic Functions Audio HU1205 (Audio Module). Then read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) according to " 3 RTI Diag". See Diagnostic functions Audio HU1205 (audio module) Diagnostic Functions Audio HU1205 (Audio Module).
Note! If the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not stored, the fault has existed but is intermittent at present.
Continue - Checking the antenna and antenna circuit
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the antenna and antenna circuit
Remove the combined instrument panel
Check the connectors for the GPS antenna cable. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Hint: If the ignition and audio unit are on, there must be approximately 5V at the center terminal pin on the connector for the antenna cable (measured to the GPS antenna) as long as the antenna cable is connected to the audio unit.
Check the antenna cable. Check for an open-circuit, a short-circuit to ground and a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Disconnect the antenna cable from both the GPS antenna and the audio unit. Then check that there is no short-circuit between the center terminal pin and the screen on the antenna cable. The resistance must be infinite. If not, replace the antenna cable.
Try replacing the GPS antenna if no fault is found in the wiring.
Remedy as necessary.
