Gear selector lever assembly, replacing

Removal

Removing the center console
Remove the center console. See Replacing the parking brake lever Replacing the Parking Brake Lever.

Removing the boot on the gear selector lever
Lift up the boot. See Gear selector lever knob, replacing, B5254T2, M56 Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.

Removing the gear selector lever knob
Remove the gear selector lever. See Gear selector lever knob, replacing, B5254T2, M56 Gear Selector Lever Knob, Replacing.

Removing the gear selector assembly and mechanical cables





Remove:
- the catches at the gear selector. Fold the selector out
- the wiring from the clips on the lever bracket.
Lift the front mounting for the mechanical cable out of the front edge of the lever bracket.
Fold up the gear selector assembly. Remove the catch. Fold the selector down.
Lift the front mounting for the mechanical cable out of the lever bracket. Remove the gear selector assembly.

Installation

Installing the gear selector assembly and mechanical cables




Install the gear selector assembly screws. Tighten to 25 Nm.

Installing the gear selector lever knob




Press down the gear selector lever knob until it locks.
Slide up the locking sleeve under the boot. Press it up towards the boot while it locks in the gear selector lever knob.
