Replacing the rear center tunnel console / center console

Removal

Preparations

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Removing center tunnel console
Disconnect the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.

Remove:
- the two seat cushions. Pull straight up and disconnect the connector
- the coolbox. See Replacing the cool box Replacing the Cool Box.





remove:
- the two screws for the bracket at the seat belt buckles.





Remove:
- the side panels on the center tunnel console
- the panel around the gear selector lever
- the screw mounting on the front center console.




Separate the center consoles by lifting both the consoles and pulling the rear console backwards.
Pull the front of the rear console to the right by approximately 5cm.
Remove the 2 screws at the end of the front tunnel console.
Remove the rubber grommet for the car-phone cable.
Disconnect the connector in the front center console (the number of connectors varies depending on the equipment).





Remove:
- the 5 switches in the panel.

Hint: The easiest way to remove the switches is to insert a hand down the back.

Hint: Mark the cable and switches.





Remove:
- the lamp, lighting and ashtray
- the connector, the cigarette lighter and the lighter socket.

Remove:
- the antenna cable at the joint
- the connectors for the DVD player at the rear edge of the console.

Turning the center console
Turn the center console a quarter of a turn.





Remove:
- the mountings for the 4 screws on the side
- the mountings for the 2 screws on the end
- the mountings for the 2 screws on the compartment.





Remove:
- the 2 locking washers on the gas strut at the armrest
- the car-phone holder / fax
- the 4 screws
- the cover and bottom of the center console locker.
Lift out the center console locker

Note! Do not damage any electrical equipment.

Transferring components

Removing the armrest
- Open the cover / arm rest
- Slacken off the 2 screws
- Remove the DVD cable harness
- Remove the cover / armrest.

Removing the trim panel




Slacken off the 8 screws.
Remove the panel.

Installation

Installing the trim panel
Position the panel.
Install the 8 screws.

Installing the cover / armrest

Install:
- the 2 screws
- the cable harness for the DVD.

Installing the center tunnel console
Position the center tunnel console.

Note! Align the gas strut for the cover / arm rest.

Thread in the cable harness at the front edge.

Note! Ensure that the cable harness is not positioned around the console.

Install the 8 screws.

Install:
- the connector
- the lighter socket
- the switch
- lamp, ashtray.
Thread the cable harness into the end panel at the front of the center console. Turn the center console locker into position.

Install:
- the connector at the front center console
- the end panel
- the 2 screws for the end panel
- the connector at the rear of the DVD player
- the connection at the joint on the antenna cable.
Align the center console locker with the front center console and the brackets at the seat belt mounting.

Install:
- the 2 screws
- the coolbox. See Replacing the cool box Replacing the Cool Box.
Do not forget the connectors for the seat cushions.
Connect the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.
