- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the VCT 2000 from the data link connector (DLC).
- Disconnect battery negative lead.
- Disconnect control module.

Check cable between control module #9 and data link connector (DLC) #7 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals - Permanent faults or a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals - Permanent faults.

Connect an ohmmeter between battery positive terminal and data link connector (DLC) #7, measure for a short-circuit to supply voltage Checking wiring and terminals - Permanent faults.

Check the connectors for contact resistance and oxidation. Checking wiring and terminals - Permanent faults

Remedy as necessary.

Other information
- Voltage at control module connector #9 should be approximately 10 V.
- To access/replace the control module, see SRS control module.
