Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Additional heater





Preparations
Before erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) all indicated faults must be corrected.

Note! To obtain the correct communication with the control module during the procedure the instructions concerning the ignition switch position must be followed.

Select 1 to continue erasing.
Select 2 to interrupt erasing.

Connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)





Is the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) connected to both the VIDA cart and the car and switched on?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - No Fault Found

Connecting the Diagnostic key




- Ignition off.
- Install a memory cassette.
- Connect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) and wiring to the car data link connector (DLC).
- Connect the VIDA cable between the adapter box and the VIDA cart.
- Ignition on.
- Power up the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).





Press Continue.

Continue - DONE

- Ignition on.




- Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Numeric Result 0 - Activating the heater

- Ignition on.
- Activate the heater.
- Allow heater to run for at least 2 minutes.
Stop heater.





Select Continue.

- Ignition on.




- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
- Make a note if any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored.

There should be no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) not stored earlier
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during repair work.
Check that all connectors and components have been correctly connected.

Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored earlier
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have probably been stored during incorrectly performed repair work
Check that fault-tracing has been carried out correctly according to the relevant fault-tracing instructions.
It is possible to interrupt or make a new attempt to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
