Connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)

Is the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) connected to both the VIDA cart and the car and switched on?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - No Fault Found

------------------------

FAULT FOUND - Checking the response code

No Fault Found - ???

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the response code

- Ignition on.

- Activate the Scan Tool (ST) in MODE 2.
- Set the switch to the ON position.
- Move the gear selector from D to N or from N to D.
- Check that the Park / Neutral position (PNP) switch is OK by checking whether response code 2-2-3 is obtained.

Is response code 2-2-3 obtained?
- 1. Yes, response code 2-2-3 is obtained.
- 2. No, response code 2-2-3 is not obtained.
- 3. No, response code 3-1-1 is obtained instead.

Select one of the above options.

1 - No Fault Found

2 - Checking the function of the Park / Neutral position (PNP) switch

3 - Checking response code 3-1-1

-------------------------------------------------

Checking response code 3-1-1
The response code is obtained when the control module receives numerous input signals within 8 ms from the same component or circuit. The fault may be due to loose connections in the terminals or a faulty component.

Select Continue.

Continue - Checking the function of the Park / Neutral position (PNP) switch

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the function of the Park / Neutral position (PNP) switch
- Check that the car can be started with the gear selector in positions N and P.
- Check that the car cannot be started with the gear selector in any other position.

Location Of Components, Passenger Compartment (Park / Neutral Position (PNP) Switch, Automatic Transmissions):

Does the Park/Neutral position (PNP) switch function?

Yes - Checking the power supply to the control module

No - Checking components

-------------------------------------------------

Checking components
Fault-trace the Park/Neutral position (PNP) switch and the associated circuit.

Hint: For further information about the circuit, see the relevant Wiring Diagram Service Manual.

Select "Continue" when the fault has been remedied.
