Checking Brake Circuits And Hydraulics In The Brake System
Checking the brake circuits and hydraulics in the brake system
Checking the brake fluid level
Check that the brake fluid level is not too low. The brake fluid reservoir must be filled to the maximum level.
Is the brake fluid level OK?
Yes - Checking the charge lamp
No - Checking components
-------------------------------------------------
Checking components
Check that there is no brake fluid leak in the hydraulic braking system.
Remedy as necessary.
Select "Continue" when the fault has been remedied.
Continue - Verification
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the charge lamp
- Start the engine.
- Rev the engine once.
Check that charging lamp lights when the ignition is switched on and that the lamp goes out when the generator starts charging.
Is the charge lamp OK?
Yes - Checking the circuit for the brake fluid level sensor
No - Checking the (D+) supply from the generator (GEN)
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the (D+) supply from the generator (GEN)
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the connector (1-pin receptacle terminal) from the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
- Ignition on.
Connect a voltmeter between ground and the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
The voltmeter should read between 0.7 V and approximately 2 V.
OK - Checking the (D+) supply from the generator (GEN), continued
Not OK - Replacing the component
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the (D+) supply from the generator (GEN), continued
- Disconnect the connector from the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
- Start the engine.
Connect a voltmeter between ground and the generator (GEN) terminal pin D+.
The voltmeter should read approximately 14.5 V.
OK - Checking the charge, lamp wiring circuit
Not OK - Replacing the component
-------------------------------------------------
Replacing the component
The fault is in the generator.
- Replace the generator (GEN) generator (GEN)or.

Checking the charge, lamp wiring circuit
The previous tests have shown that the fault is in the wiring circuit for the combined instrument panel or the lamp. It is also possible that the combined instrument panel is faulty.
Check the wiring circuit for the charge lamp.
Check the circuit between the generator (GEN) and the combined instrument panel for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault , and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Select "Continue" when the fault has been remedied.

-------------------------------------------------
Checking the circuit for the brake fluid level sensor
- Start the engine.
Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor
Does the brake circuit warning lamp go out?
Yes - Replacing the component
No - Checking for a short-circuit
-------------------------------------------------
Replacing the component
Try a new brake fluid level sensor.
Select "Continue" when the fault has been remedied.
