Trunk lid
Removing the entire trunk lid
- Disconnect the connector for the tail lamp.
- Pull up the cable harness through the rear fender.
- Lift up the lock for the gas strut. Pull the gas strut off the ball joint.
- Remove the screws which secure the hinge to the trunk lid. Remove the trunk lid.
Installing the trunk lid
- Install in reverse order.
- Use a piece of string to feed the cable harness in.
- Lubricate the ball joints.
- Adjust the trunk lid. See Adjusting the trunk lid.
Replacing the trunk lid
- After spraying, rust-proof the new trunk lid.
- Transfer all shock absorbers and covers.
Note! All components must be removed from the trunk lid while the lid is in position.
- Ensure that the components and wiring are installed in such a way that they do not rattle.
Removing the hinges for the trunk lid
- Support the trunk lid.
- Lift up the lock unit for the gas strut on the hinge side. Pull the gas strut off the ball joint.
- Remove the mounting screws for the hinge. Remove the hinge.
- When installing, spray paint and rust-proof the hinges.
Installing the hinges for the trunk lid
- Install in reverse order.
- Tighten the screws loosely. Position the trunk lid. Tighten the screws to: 21 Nm.
- Adjust the trunk lid. See Adjusting the trunk lid.
- Lubricate the ball joints.
Replacing gas struts
- Open the trunk lid / hood. Support the trunk lid / hood.
- Lift up the lock a little. Pull the gas strut off the ball joint (2x).
- Install in reverse order.
- Lubricate the ball joints.
Note! When replacing the gas strut, drain the gas from the old strut.
- Drill a 4 mm hole as illustrated.
Warning! Use protective goggles when drilling.
Adjusting the trunk lid
- The trunk lid can be adjusted in three ways:
From front-rear with the hinges on the trunk lid and rear fender.
Vertically with the hinges on the rear fender and striker plate.
From side to side with the hinges on the trunk lid.
- Tighten the screws loosely. Position the trunk lid. Tighten the screws to: 21 Nm.
