Adjusting doors
General
The doors must open and close easily.
The edges of the doors must be flush with the exterior of the car.
All doors can be adjusted at the striker plate and at the hinge.
Adjusting rear doors
- Slacken off the four screws on the side of the B-post. Adjust the door.
The rear door can be adjusted on both sides using the hinge.
Tighten the screw. Tighten to 21 Nm.
Adjusting the striker plate
- Slacken off the screws until the striker plate can be moved.
Ensure that the door does not rest against the striker plate. Ensure that the striker plate is not forcing the door upwards.
- Hold the door handle out. Check that the door can be opened and closed without sticking
- Check that the door closes properly. Check that the door is flush with the car body.
Tighten the screws. Tighten to 21 Nm.
Installing and removing the door panel from rear doors
Remove:
- Close the driver's door window
- Carefully remove the rear corner section (A)
- Remove the self tapping screw (B) at the opener. Remove the cover (C) from the front
- Remove the cover (D) and the self tapping screw (E) from the door handle
- Power windows:
Remove the switch and disconnect the connector.
Pull off the window winder handle (secured with a clip). Make an opening between the panel and handle. Lift up the clip (use a cloth to remove the clip if the handle is difficult to remove)
- Remove the covers and the self tapping screws on the reverse of the panel (D)
- Pull the panel out of the clip on the underneath and lift upwards.
Do not damage the molding.
New panels are supplied without holes for manual crank mechanisms. Holes must be made if necessary. Instructions for this are supplied with the new panel.
It may be difficult to determine the center point (A). The illustration shows where the center is located to make a hole.
Install:
- Install the molding in the correct position if necessary
- Install the panel and press in the lower clip for the panel
- Route the wiring past the power window
- Install the cover (C). Install the screw (B)
- Install the handle and connect the wiring (if necessary).
Tighten the screw. Install the cover (D)
- Install the screw (E) on the reverse. Secure the cover (D)
- Install the clip on the door opener. Install the spacer ring. Press the door opener on to the shaft
- Install the rear corner section (A).
Installing and removing rear door hinges
Remove the hinge from the rear door
- Open the front door
- Slacken off the 4 screws holding the hinge. Remove the hinge.
Install the hinge for the rear door.
Note! Clean the mating surfaces before installation.Spray the hinge the correct color before installation.
- The hinge and mounting screws
- Position the hinge and the door. Tighten the screws.
Tighten to: 21 Nm
- Adjust the door. See Adjusting rear doors.
Installing and removing rear door stops
Remove the door stop from the rear door:
- Remove the door panel. See section Installing and removing the door panel from rear doors
- Carefully detach the foam insulation on the underneath
- Press the tensioned retaining pin upwards (clamp the pin together if necessary)
- Remove the screws and slide the door stop out through the lowest hole on the door.
Install the door stop for the rear door
- Lubricate the new door stop with grease, P/N 1161236
- Clean the mating surface
- Install the door stop. Finger-tighten the screws.
Tighten the screws to: 10 Nm.
Note! Install the tensioner pin with the opening running along the spacer.
- Install the tensioner pin
- Install the plastic guard over the door stop (if applicable)
- Install the panel in the rear door. See section Installing and removing the door panel from rear doors.
Installing and removing the door assembly
Remove the entire door:
- Mark the position of the hinge
- Remove the tensioned retaining pin (clamp the pin together if necessary)
- Remove the cover for the cable harness from the B-post
- Detach the cover over the cable harness. Disconnect the connector (press in the lug)
- Remove the screws on the side of the door.
Installing the entire door:
- Clean the mating surfaces
- Install the door according to the markings. Finger tighten the screws
- Install the tensioner pin for the spacer.
Note! Install the tensioner pin so that it runs along the spacer.
- Connect the connector. Install the cover over the cable harness in the B-post
- Check the function
- Adjust the door. See Adjusting rear doors.
Tighten torque for the hinge screws: 21 Nm.
Note! For new doors, first remove the welded washer from the hinge. Rust-proof the hinge.
