Checking for permanent or intermittent faults
- Turn the ignition off and on at least three times with at least three seconds in between.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).





Is diagnostic trouble code (DTC) IMM-336 still stored?

Yes - Checking the VGLA output

No - Fault-tracing information

- Ignition on.
Read off the VGLA OUPUT parameter.





Is VGLA OUTPUT LOW displayed?

Yes - Connecting the breakout box

No - Checking for short-circuits to supply voltage

- Ignition off.
- Remove the immobilizer control module according to Immobilizer control module Immobilizer Control Module.
- Connect adapter 981 3194 Replaced by 9511495 981 3194 Replaced by 951 1495 and breakout box 981 3190 Replaced by 9511428 981 3190 Replaced by 951 1428 according to Connecting the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box.





Select Continue.

Continue - Checking the VGLA circuit

Checking for short-circuits to supply voltage
Check the cable between immobilizer control module #7 and VGLA control module #A11 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.













Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

- VGLA control module connector A disconnected.
- Immobilizer control module (TCM) disconnected.
Connect an ohmmeter between breakout box #53 (#7) and ground.





The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance!

OK - Checking for an open-circuit

Not OK - Checking for short-circuits to ground

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Start the engine.
Do not start the engine if there is a communication fault between the engine control module (ECM) and the immobilizer.
