Checking the key code




- Ignition on.
- Select scrolling list under MONITOR TEST.
Check CODE STORED.





Is CODE STORED YES displayed?

Yes - Checking the control module

No - Programming keys

- Select SCROLL LIST under MONITOR TEST
Check RELAY OUT.





Is RELAY OUT LOW displayed?

Yes - Check for an intermittent short-circuit

No - Fault counter

Read off diagnostic trouble code (DTC), the status message and fault counter according to Read off fault counter Read Off Fault Counter.

Does the fault counter display zero (0)?

Yes - Checking permanent short-circuit

No - Check for an intermittent short-circuit

Check the cable between control module terminal #2 and starter motor relay connector terminal #2 for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
On vehicles with automatic transmission: Also check the Park / Neutral position (PNP) switch and its cables for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults.













Select "Continue" when the fault has been remedied.

The ignition key is faulty because it is not one of the car's approved keys. Program the key according to Add a key Add A Key.
