Faulty Signal

Faulty signal

Lamp test

- Ignition off.
- Ignition on.
Note how the indicator lamp on the combined instrument panel reacts.
1. The indicator lamp lights for 3 seconds.
2. The indicator lamp lights and is on continuously.
3. The indicator lamp does not light at all, it lights when the ignition is switched off or it goes out the when the ignition is switched on.

Select one of the following alternatives to continue.

1 - Checking for a short-circuit, intermittent fault

2 - Checking for a short-circuit

3 - Checking for a short-circuit

-------------------------------------------------

Checking for a short-circuit, intermittent fault
Check the cable between control module #1 and indicator lamp #B24 on the combined instrument panel for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults and for an intermittent short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults.

Note! At normal function, the voltage at #1 is approximately 0 V only during the time the lamp check is made (until approximately three seconds after the ignition is switched on). The voltage then increases to battery voltage.

Checking for a short-circuit

Hint: There is a short-circuit to +15 in the cable to control module #1 if the indicator lamp does not light.
There is a short-circuit to +30 in the cable to control module #1 if the indicator lamp lights when the ignition is switched off.
