Testing the heater unit

Note! Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) HEA-898 is stored during manufacture of the control module to ensure that the heater is tested at the factory before the car is delivered to the customer. In other words this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) cannot be set by the control module itself, only by the manufacturer. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is automatically erased at the factory when the unit is tested. When the unit is installed as a replacement partthe diagnostic trouble code (DTC) must be erased manually after the heater has been tested in the car.

- Ignition on (with additional heater start the engine).

Note! On cars where the heater functions as a parking heater there is no +15 voltage supply to the control module. The heater is activated using the timer stop and start buttons instead of VIDA vehicle communication. Individual components and functions cannot be activated when the +15 voltage supply is absent.

- Activate the heater.

- Check the function of the heater according to Test running the additional heater / parking heater Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
