- Expose the ignition switch.
Check that the ignition key warning switch is correctly mounted.
Check the cable between VGLA control module connector #B10 (A36) and ignition key warning switch connector #4 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between passenger compartment fusebox #G15 and ignition key warning switch connector #2 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault and for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring And Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Other information:
- To connect the breakout box, see Connecting the breakout box, lock and alarm (VGLA) Connecting The Breakout Box, Lock And Alarm (VGLA).
- The voltage between ignition key warning switch connector #2 and ground should be approximately battery voltage.
Remedy as necessary.

No - Replacing the component

Check the ignition key warning switch connector and the VGLA control module connector for loose connections according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults , and contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring And Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
