Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition
The control module checks misfires after the engine's first 1000 camshaft revolutions after start. A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module registers a misfire that results in increased emissions.

Substitute value
- Fuel trim disabled.
- Three-way catalytic converter (TWC) diagnostics are disabled.
- Knock retardation inhibited.
- Idle air trim adaptation switches off.
- The EVAP system runs in minimum mode.

Possible source
- Fuel stoppage.
- Repeated cold starting where the engine coolant temperature (ECT) has not reached normal operating temperature between starts.
- Water in spark plug wells.
- Damaged spark plug. Damaged ignition cables. Damaged ignition coil.
- Damaged flywheel or ring gear.
- Contaminated or incorrect fuel.
- Blocked / leaking injector.
- Intermittent open-circuit, intermittent short-circuit to ground, intermittent short-circuit to voltage, contact resistance or loose connections in the ignition system's low tension side.
- Intermittent open-circuit, intermittent short-circuit to ground, intermittent short-circuit to voltage, contact resistance or loose connections in the circuit for the injectors.
- Intermittent open-circuit, intermittent short-circuit to ground, intermittent short-circuit to voltage, contact resistance or loose connections in the fuel pump's circuit.
- Blocked crankcase ventilation.
- Damaged VVT-unit.
- Moisture, flashovers in the ignition system's high tension side.
- Leak between cooling system and cylinder.
- Uneven compression.

Fault symptom[s]
- Engine is difficult to start
- Engine running rough
- Poor performance
- High emissions
