Faulty Signal
Faulty signal
Checking the connectors and components
Check the connectors for the front and rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S). Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Note! Check that there is no oil or grease in the connectors.
Check the exhaust system for leakage. Check in particular between the front and rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and between the exhaust manifold / turbocharger (TC) and the front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
Check the intake system for air leakage. Even extremely small air leaks can cause this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) to be stored.
Remedy as necessary.
Hint: The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may also be due to a defective front or rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
Try a new front heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) if no fault is found during the above fault-tracing.
Try a new rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) if the fault remains after the above fault-tracing.

Hint: After carrying out repairs it may be necessary to check that the car is fault free. This is done by erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and then reading off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) after the diagnostic for the heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) has been run. This checks that the control module has run the diagnostic without detecting any faults.
If the diagnostic function has cycled and a fault is detected by the control module a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be stored.
If the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been erased and no faults are detected after the diagnostic function is run by the control module, no diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be stored for the fault.
Hint: It will not be possible to run the diagnostic functions if diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored.
Select "Continue" to erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Note! All diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the control module will be erased and the status for diagnostic functions will be "NOT READY".

Test drive the car. See Verification of repair Verifying Repairs. The test drive only needs to be run according to operations 5-8 for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
Select "Continue" after test driving.

- Ignition off after test driving.
Note! The ignition must be switched off to update the status parameters. This must be carried out before reading off.
- Ignition on
- Read off the status of the "heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)" diagnostic function.
Check that the diagnostic function status for the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) is "READY". If the status is "Not Ready" this indicates that the diagnostics have not cycled.
