Signal Too Low

Signal too low

Checking the position of the gear selector

Hint: The gear position and torque limiting use a common cable. The circuit can be checked by checking the gear selector signal to the engine control module (ECM).

- Ignition on.
- Go into scrolling values for engine control module (ECM) Fenix 5.1.
Read off the gear selector position.
Move the gear selector to all gear positions several times. Check that the gear selector position reads P/N when the gear selector is in the P/N position and R/D/3/L when the gear selector is in the R/D/3/L positions.

Checking the ground terminal

- Ignition off.
- Control module disconnected.
- Switch off all power consuming equipment, such as courtesy lighting, radio etc.
Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 1 on the breakout box and the battery negative terminal.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms.

OK - Return to the fault-tracing procedure where it was interrupted.
No Fault Found

Not OK - Checking for an open-circuit, contact resistance and oxidation
