Condition

The throttle position (TP) sensor signal comes from the throttle position (TP) sensor on the throttle body (TB) via the engine control module (ECM). It is a pulsed signal (between approximately 0 V and battery voltage) with a fixed frequency (approximately 50 Hz). The pulse ratio (% duty) changes as the throttle opens. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) AT-223 is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) detects missing pulses and a low signal for more than 10 seconds.

Substitute value
The transmission control module (TCM) "Emergency mode I"program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable.

Fault symptom[s]
- The warning lamp in the combined instrument panel flashes.
- No lock-up function.
- No adaptation of the gear slippage times at high altitude (High Altitude Compensation).
- Gear shifting can change - irregular shifting.
