Condition

The throttle position (TP) sensor signal comes from the throttle position (TP) sensor on the throttle body (TB) via the engine control module (ECM). It is a pulsed signal (between approximately 0 V and battery voltage) with a fixed frequency (approximately 50 Hz). The pulse ratio (% duty) changes as the throttle opens. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) AT-213 is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) detects missing pulses and a high signal for more than 10 seconds.

Substitute value
The transmission control module (TCM) "Emergency mode I"program has been initiated.

Possible source
- Open-circuit in the signal cable.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
- Contact resistance in the wiring.

Note! The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is also stored if the engine control module (ECM) is disconnected and the ignition is switched on. Fault causes of this type are not included in the fault-tracing procedure.

Fault symptom[s]
- The warning lamp in the combined instrument panel flashes.
- No lock-up function.
- No adaptation of the gear slippage times at high altitude (High Altitude Compensation).
- Gear shifting can change - irregular shifting.
