- Read off oil temperature.
Check that the transmission oil temperature is within its permitted range. Compare with the transmission temperature.

Yes - Intermittent fault

- Disconnect gray 2-pin transmission connector. For further information about connectors, see Transmission connectors Transmission Connectors.
Connect an ohmmeter between the gray 2-pin transmission connector terminal 1 (transmission control module (TCM) side) and ground.
The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms.
OK - Checking signal cable

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms.

Hint: The oil temperature sensor can malfunction due to a short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable. Check signal cable as follows:
- Ignition off.
- Gray 2-pin transmission connector disconnected.
Connect an ohmmeter between the gray 2-pin transmission connector terminals 2 and 1 (transmission side).
Compare the temperature below with the transmission temperature at the oil temperature sensor.
