Version Introduction

The air conditioning systems in the Volvo S70 and V70 have been modified, compared with those in the 850.

There are 3 versions of the air conditioning systems, as before:
- ECC (Electronic Climate Control), a fully automatic air conditioning system with a manual setting option.
- MCC (Manual Climate Control), a manual air conditioning system.
- STD (Standard heater), a manual heating system without air conditioning.

Modifications:
ECC:
- The new control panel includes a new look and separate jog switches for A/C on/off and recirculation on/off.
- Diodes indicate selected A/C and recirculation positions.
- The duct temperature sensors have been removed.
- A temperature sensor for inside the car with an integrated fan has been installed in the center of the dashboard, replacing the previous two on the 850.
- The air distribution selectors are now controlled by one motor and one camwheel controlling two linkages, replacing the previous two motors.
- Option to set recirculation time.
- Changes to the electrical installation and new connectors.
- New improved software in the control module.
- More diagnostic functions, accessible via the diagnostic test point.
- Option to adjust the control module for different equipment, chassis, engine types and customer requirements through programming, via the diagnostic test point using the VST.
- The damper motors can be self-adjusted using the VST.
- The A/C compressor is controlled by the engine management system, this has led the A/C relay to be moved from the heater unit to the fusebox.
