Oil Pump: Description and Operation
Oil pump
The 6 cylinder engines are equipped with a modified oil pump.
B6284T and B6304S
- The oil pump appearance and function is the same as the current pump. It is 5 mm (0.20 in) in thinner however.
- The pump gear wheel have larger teeth and a softer shape. The wheel thickness is reduced from 12.5 mm (0.49 in) to 11.5 mm (0.45 in).
- The change in the gear wheel shape has given a large gap between the teeth. This has given the pump a larger volumetric efficiency.
- The pump capacity is higher than the current pump.
- Both the pump gear wheels are marked with a small stamped square. The outer wheel mark should be outwards on installation, while the inner wheel marking should be inward.
- The relief valve has a new piston and spring.
- The pressure on the pump relief valve has increased to 7 bar (101.5 psi).
