Reverse Gear

In reverse gear power is transmitted only by the rear planetary train P2. Clutches C0 and C2 are locked, connecting the input shaft to the sun wheel shaft. Brake B3 is applied and locks the P2 planet carrier.
This causes the sun wheel shaft to drive the rear planets counterclockwise. The planets in turn drive the rear ring gear permanently mounted on the output shaft counterclockwise.
