Components Activated In Selected Gears

COMPONENTS ACTIVATED IN SELECTED GEARS
The table below shows the transmission components which are activated in the various gear positions. X denotes activated component.
The table shows the function of the various transmision components.

Clutches
- CO Connects planetary train PO sun wheel and planet carrier.
- C1 Connects intermediate shaft and planetary train P1 ring gear.
- C2 Connects intermediate shaft and sun wheel shaft.

Brakes
- BO Locks planet train sun gear PO so that it cannot rotate.
- B1 Locks the sun gear so that it cannot rotate. (Provides engine braking in 2nd gear in positions 3 and L.)
- B2 Locks the outer ring of freewheel F1 so it cannot rotate, and prevents the P1 and P2 sun wheel shafts from rotating anticlockwise.
- B3 Locks planetary train P2 planet carrier so it cannot rotate.

Freewheels
- F0 Transfers power between the planetary train PO ring gear and sun wheel when the power flow is from the engine to the transmission. (FO locks the sun wheel anticlockwise rotation in relation to the planet wheel carrier.)
- F1 Prevents P1 and P2 sun gear shaft from rotating counterclockwise when brake B2 is engaged.
- F2 Prevents planetary train P2 planet carrier from rotating counterclockwise.

Gear Shifting Solenoids
- S1 Controls shifting in the transmission. Activated in reverse, 1st and 2nd gears.
- S2 Controls shifting in the transmission. Activated in 2nd and 3rd gears.
