Installing Pressure Gauge
- Supplement pressure gauge 999 5011 with nipple 998 9725 and adapter 999 2614.
- Connect other pressure gauge connector to fuel draining unit 981 2270, 981 2273 and 981 2282.
- Protect metal components and connectors with foam rubber to avoid scratching the dashboard and paint- work.
Routing Pressure Hose
- Remove the protective cap from nipple on the fuel rail at the rear of the engine.
- Install the adapter hose nipple loosely on the nipple on the fuel pressure line. The nipple will be tightened later.
- Arrange hose as shown.
NOTE: Ensure that the hose follows the rubber trim on the plenum chamber and then out of the engine compartment at the rear corner of the bonnet, with the adapter hose joint at the T-valve outside the engine compartment, so the neither the bonnet or the hose are damaged when the bonnet is closed.
Connecting Fuel Pressure Gauge
- Tape the T-valve to the right door mirror.
NOTE: Protect the valve and connector with foam rubber as illustrated.
- Turn the T-valve cock to the middle position (position 2 in the illustration).
- Start draining unit.
- Tighten nipple on fuel rail.
NOTE: Ensure that there is no fuel leakage!
- Turn the T-valve cock toward the engine (position 1 in the illustration).
- Stop draining unit.
- Remove the draining unit hose from the T-valve hose connector.
- Use a tie strap to lock the cock in the position toward the engine.
NOTE: Check fuel and residual pressures if necessary, then continue with the following.
- Arrange the hose along the plenum chamber cover's rubber trim to the left of the bonnet hinge so that neither the bonnet nor the hose are damaged.
- Carefully close the bonnet.
Measure Fuel Pressure
- Start engine.
- Drive the car and read off fuel pressure while the car is being driven. Fuel pressure should be: 210 - 310 kPa (29.9 - 44.1 psi).
NOTE: At constant engine loads the fuel pressure should be stable. At acceleration or during engine braking the fuel pressure may vary between the maximum and minimum readings.
Disconnect Fuel Pressure Gauge
- Connect the draining unit hose to the hose nipple on the door mirror (see black arrow in illustration).
- Stan draining unit.
- Remove the tie strap locking the cock on the T- nipple.
- Turn cock to mid-position (position 2).
- Remove adapter hose from the engine.
- Turn OFF the draining unit.
- Remove fuel pressure gauge, fuel draining unit and hoses from car.
- Reinstall the protective cap on the fuel rail.
- Reinstall throttle pulley cover.
