Throttle Body: Service and Repair
Removing Fresh Air Intake
Remove:
- throttle pulley cover.
- fresh air intake between air cleaner (ACL) and throttle body (TB).
- link between throttle pulley and throttle body.
Removing Throttle Body
Remove:
- connector from throttle position (TP) sensor.
- throttle body from intake manifold.
Installing Throttle Position Sensor
- Move throttle position sensor to new throttle body.
- Install a new gasket on the throttle body.
NOTE: The throttle position sensor is not adjustable.
Installing Throttle Body
- Install the new throttle body on the intake manifold.
- Connect connector to throttle position sensor.
Checking Link
- Undo link locknut.
- Pull back link as far as possible, release one end and check that the link springs back easily to innermost position.
Installing Link
- Locate link.
- Check that throttle spindle is in contact with adjustment screw (A) and that throttle pulley is in contact with idling stop (B).
- Tighten link locknut (C).
- Open and close throttle, check that the throttle spindle is in contact with the adjustment screw (A) when the throttle is closed.
Check/Adjust Throttle Pulley and Throttle Cable
- Pulley should move easily without sticking.
- The cable should be taut in idling position but must not affect throttle pulley position. Pulley should seat against idling stop. Adjust cable as required.
- Press accelerator pedal to floor and check that pulley seats against full-load stop.
- Check that the engine control module (ECM) is receiving information that the throttle is open.
Installing Fresh Air Intake
Install:
- fresh air intake between air cleaner and throttle body.
- throttle pulley cover.
