Checking Mass Air Flow Sensor Connector





Checking Spark Plugs
- Check whether any of the spark plugs has small brown lines or stripes on the porcelain by the hexagonal nut.

NOTE: It is vital that the correct spark plugs are used, see parts catalogue for P/N. Check the spark gap of new plugs before they are fitted. Spark gap should be 0.7 - 0.8 mm (0.028 - 0.032 in).

- Does one of the spark plugs look defective?

Yes:
^ Replace all spark plugs.

No:

- Clean and grease mass air flow (MAF) sensor connector.
- Check if the symptoms persist.
- Do the fault symptoms persist?

Yes:
^ Proceed to: Connecting the Breakout Box section below.

No:
^ Operation done.





Connecting the Breakout Box
- Connect the breakout box and check ground terminals.
- Connect engine control module (ECM).
- Check all signals to and from engine control module.
- Operation done.
